A native Californian, Anne Newman was selected as one of the six finalists in the Miss Rheingold Contest in 1960. She then stayed in New York to pursue a successful modeling career, before returning to California to appear in television and motions pictures, including El Dorado, The Best Man and the Thrill of It All.

An award-winning producer and writer with over thirty years of experience in television production. She produced Walter Cronkite: Witness to History and wrote John Muir in the New World, both for American Masters, along with Earth on Edge and America in the Forties, all for PBS.

Tom Spain has been making documentary films for more than forty years. His films – with credits as producer, editor and cinematographer – include America in the Forties, America’s First River: Bill Moyers on the Hudson, If You Knew Sousa for PBS and Anyplace But Here and The Fire Next Doorf or CBS
